Arsène Lupin III, or more commonly known as Lupin III, is an infamous thief whose story spawned numerous media franchise such as anime series, OVAs, films, video games, and many more. Its manga is written and illustrated by Kazuhiko Kato (known by his pen name Monkey Punch) in the 1960s and a few years after its publication, its first animated television series was aired. The anime was divided into four different parts which spanned for about four decades. With its popularity still soaring high up to this day, a live-action film adaptation of Monkey Punch’s best-selling manga is created. It is directed by Ryuhei Kitamura and the plot of the movie will revolve around Lupin’s escapade to steal the “Crimson Heart of Cleopatra”.
The movie adaptation will be shown in Japanese cinemas on August 30, 2014. Shun Oguri is playing the role of Lupin III, and his friends Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa XIII and Fujiko Mine are going to be portrayed by Tetsuji Tamayama, Gō Ayano and Meisa Kuroki, respectively. Tadanobu Asano, on the other hand, is Inspector Koichi Zenigata—an ICPO detective who constantly chases Lupin and his gang but always fails to arrest them. Jerry Yan, Kim Joon and Nick Tate are also included in the cast, among others.
The trailer for the movie was released earlier this year, and for those who haven’t seen it yet, check this out!
