Haruichi Furudate‘s Haikyū!! manga gets a second anime adaptation as Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced on its fourth and fifth issue that the production of a sequel has been confirmed.
The first season of Haikyū!! was produced by Production I.G and was aired from April until September this year, with 25 episodes in total. The manga, on the other hand, is published by Shueisha and 14 volumes of it has been released so far.
The series follows the story of Shōyō Hinata as he strives hard to follow the footsteps of “Small Giant” that inspired him to play volleyball after he saw the player’s performance during the national championship match on TV. After years of hard work, he finally gets to play in a real match during his last year in middle school. Unfortunately, his team gets defeated after clashing with the opponent’s team, which includes Tobio Kageyama, the so-called “King of the Court” who eventually becomes Hinata’s rival.
