Death Parade Ep. 6 – “Cross Heart Attack” (Summary)

Mayu Arita gets overly excited upon meeting her favorite C.H.A member Harada at the bar that Ginti handles. Ginti immediately orders them to play a game of Twister where the players have to place their designated body parts on the corresponding circle that the spinner indicates. Mayu feels thrilled to play a game with Harada, who in turn is just concerned about meeting his girlfriend.

Halfway through the game, Mayu asks Ginti for a break, but the latter instead changes the game. Each panel corresponds to a different climate, ranging from a boiling temperature to a freezing one. The moment Harada places his right foot on the yellow circle, the rest of the panels collapse, revealing a floor filled with spikes. Ginti tells them that the game will end if only one player remains. Just when Harada is about to kick the girl, Mayu voluntarily forfeits the game, which surprises both men. Deep inside, she would rather fall down to her death than let her idol see her soil herself.

Before plunging, she thanks Harada for comforting her through his music, and once again affirms her affection to him even though he is known to be a womanizer. However, Harada takes her hand and tries to rescue her when she already drops herself. He remembers his ex-girlfriend who committed suicide after he broke up with her, and he doesn’t want to feel the guilt again of not saving her. As Mayu slowly glides down, he thanks her for being his fan, then asks her to attend his concert once again.

Much to Mayu’s surprise, the spikes are just fake and she safely lands on the ground. Her memories flash before her, and she remembers that she died after she slipped in the bathroom. Harada, on the other hand, was killed by the sister of his ex-girlfriend after she set off a bomb in his room. As reality strikes the two, Mayu doesn’t seem bothered at all upon knowing her death. She asks Ginti for a change of clothes, and Ginti and Harada are both surprised to see her new looks. Harada immediately hits on Mayu who gets all flustered and ecstatic.

The end of the video shows Harada performing his group’s debut single “Cross Heart Attack” in front of Mayu and Quindecim staff which includes Clavis, Decim, Onna and Ginti.

=========

I actually enjoyed watching this episode. Aside from the fact that my favorite seiyuu, Miyano Mamoru dubbed Harada, this is also by far one of the silliest episodes of Death Parade. Mayu and Harada are both dorks, and I love how irritated Ginti is. It’s refreshing to see another arbiter handling the judgment of the guests. This explains why I made a lot of gifs in this post. 😛

Tokyo Ghoul √A Ep. 6 – “Thousand Paths” (Summary)

Yukinori Shinohara gets discharged from the hospital after sustaining some injuries during his fight with Kaneki, who is still having a hard time controlling the kakuja that he gained from cannibalizing other ghouls. Back in the CCG office, Seidou Takizawa invites Koutarou Amon to eat out, and the latter asks his partner Akira Mado to come with them.

However, Akira ends up getting drunk, and she begins to let out her pent-up emotions as she blames Amon for the death of his father. Amon himself feels responsible for Kureo Mado’s demise, and upon seeing Akira’s suffering, he vows to himself that he will protect her. He then starts to do some training until he reaches his limit the next morning after he executes more than 7,000 push-ups.

A short background story about Juuzo Suzuya is also shown. It turns out that he was raised as a pet by a ghoul called “Big Madam” who trained him as a scrapper in the ghoul restaurant. Because of the way he was treated and the environment where he grew up, Rei, who is later called Juuzo, developed an erratic and violent behavior without any apparent sense of pain. Big Madam’s hideout was then raided by the CCGs who took custody of Juuzo. The child’s skills were deemed useful by the officers, that is why he was trained to become a CCG investigator alongside Shinohara who has always shown him affection and sympathy for the kind of life that he had from the hands of the ghoul.

“The boy had no other choice but to live that way, right? I consider him to be a victim.” ©Pierrot

Towards the end of the episode, several CCG investigators and high-ranking officials are seen attending a conference led by Yoshitoki Washuu. He commands the Owl Suppression Unit and gives them the task of locating the Owl and Aogiri’s base before hunting them down as part of their extermination campaign.
