More than four decades after the creation of Lupin III , the infamous thief is scheduled to return once again on TV as another anime adaptation of Monkey Punch‘s well-acclaimed manga. It is set to be aired in 2015, three years after the last spin-off anime entitled “Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine” was broadcasted.
The series has also produced various films, video games, music CDs, OVAs, live-action movies, several anime TV series, and a lot more, proving the popularity of Arsène Lupin III and his gang across the globe. The most recent live-action film adaptation of Lupin III was released on August 30, 2014, with Shun Oguri playing the titular role.
The setting of the new anime series will take place in the Republic of San Marino, Italy. It will be produced by Tomonaga Kazuhide, Yano Yuichiro, and Takahashi Yuya and it will start airing on Italy’s broadcasting station RTI next year before it gets released globally.
