This year is notable for the numerous number of manga series which have been adapted into live-action films and TV dramas. For instance, Death Note is once again relived through a television drama series which premiered in July. It stars Masataka Kubota (Light Yagami) and Kento Yamazaki (L) as the main protagonists of the story.  Hajime Isayama’s Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) also got a two-part live-action film adaptation which features Haruma Miura as Eren Jaeger. The first part was released in Japan last month, while the second installment will be shown on September 19.

And just recently, another series was green-lit for a live-action movie. Ayuko Hatta’s shojo manga Ōkami Shōjo to Kuro Ōji (Wolf Girl and Black Prince) is going to release its film adaptation in May next year. The cast includes Fumi Nikaidō (Erika Shinohara) and Kento Yamazaki (Kyōya Sata). The latter will also play the role of Kōsei Arima in another live-action film adaptation of Naoshi Arakawa’s Your Lie in April

The official website of Ōkami Shōjo to Kuro Ōji movie also uploaded a 13-second clip of the film which presents the cast and cites Ryūichi Hiroki as the director of the film.

The filming will begin in December and will conclude in January next year.

The manga, on the other hand, is still ongoing and is published by Shueisha on Bessatsu Margaret magazine. A 12-episode anime TV series was also aired in October last year until December.

Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji Ep. 12-A Pressing Appeal -I Love You- (Summary)

It turns out that the “mama” that Reika greeted is the “Big Mama” from the local bar. Kyouya’s real mom looks much more elegant, and she resembles him more than Reika, with her short, blonde hair befitting her small body frame.

She tries her best to get along well with Erika since she is the girlfriend of her son. While Reika and Erika are washing the dishes, the former starts to narrate the life that Kyouya had after their parents separated. He tried to cope with the situation by closing his heart to anyone and establishing a cold personality. His mom, on the other hand, feels guilty and she believes that she is the one responsible for the sudden change in her son’s personality.

Erika and Reika decide to see the fireworks festival together, but Kyouya suddenly tags along. The three of them walk together, and as they stroll around the venue, Reika reminisces the times that she and Kyouya were with their mother. Kyouya tries to shove those memories off and ignores his sister. Erika sees a stall selling candied apples so she goes to buy some and asks Kyouya to give the other one to his mom.

However, Kyouya refuses to give it so Erika pretends to be sad and tells him that she will just go to the bathroom. Instead, she calls his mom and makes up an excuse to make her go to the festival so she can resolve her issues with Kyouya. However, as she is talking with her on the phone, Erika gets bumped by other people and the pendant of the necklace that Kyouya gave her gets lost.

After waiting for her for a few minutes, Reika and Kyouya decide to look for her. While going around the venue, the two are surprised to see their mom. She tells them about the strange phone call that she received from Erika and together, they continue searching for her. Eventually, they find her at the dumpster rummaging through the heaps of garbage, looking for the pendant, but it is Hitomi who finds it nearby.

At home, Kyouya thanks his mom for helping them find the necklace, much to Hitomi’s surprise. The two of them finally reconcile, with Kyouya telling her that he will come to Kobe more often. On their way back to Tokyo, Erika looks at the childhood photos of Kyouya that Reika gave her. Kyouya sees the picture of him with the snowman and finally realizes the situation back then.

The scene concludes as Kyouya kisses Erika in their school’s rooftop, implying the blossoming relationship of the two as the episode comes to an end.

Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji Episode 11: A Critical Situation -Judgment- (Summary)

While Erika, Kyouya, Sanda and Kamiya are talking about their plans for their upcoming summer vacation, their conversation switched to Kyouya’s mom who lives in Kobe. As they are walking, the four of them sees a guy trying to hit on a woman but he gets terribly rejected by her somewhat intimidating way of speaking. It turns out that she is the older sister of Kyouya, who seems totally dumbfounded seeing his sister with her baggage. Erika nervously introduces herself to Reika Sata as Kyouya’s girlfriend. Right after the brief introduction, Reika drags her younger brother home where she will stay for the meantime. She asks him about Erika and thinks that he is not serious about her so she tells him to just break up with her. However, Kyouya implies that his decision to be in a relationship with her is not done on a whim, which leaves his sister surprised.

Kyouya probably got his obnoxious attitude from his sister LOL

The following day, Reika invites Erika out on a date as they eat various desserts, which makes the latter feel full. But for the sake of good impression, she tries to take another bite when suddenly,  two guys arrive and hit on them. Reika perfectly shoos them away by telling them to go to the zoo and flirt with the female monkeys instead (LOL). The men get scared and they immediately go away. Reika complains to Erika about how men tend to flirt halfheartedly at girls and treat them like fools. She also doesn’t believe how her brother suddenly changes, and calls him a boy who’s not worthy to be called a man, just like most guys. Erika objects and begins to argue with her, telling her that Kyouya can also fall in love with someone seriously in contrast to how Reika describes him. To end the argument, they both agree to do a challenge and if Erika wins, Reika will apologize to her.

“Girls only” can be a lonely time. How about a date with us?

Meanwhile, Kyouya is at Takeru’s house since he doesn’t want to be in the same roof with his sister. He complains about how she loves to order him around and bully him ever since they were kids. Right then, his phone rings but he doesn’t want to answer his sister’s call. Takeru persuades him to get the phone because he might just get into trouble later if he doesn’t answer it. Reika tells him on the other line to go to Glouton Hotel as soon as possible, but when he refuses, she tells him that something bad might happen to his girlfriend if he doesn’t come over quickly. Sensing that Erika might be in danger, Kyouya immediately goes to the venue and sees his sister waiting for him. He looks for Erika but she tries to stop him, which makes him upset, surprising his own sister with the sudden change in his behavior. Just when he is about to continue walking, he hears Erika puking in the bathroom. Apparently, the two of them decided to have an eating contest in a dessert buffet restaurant so she ended up consuming more than what she could handle. After slapping her brother for embarrassing Erika, she goes to pay for their bills as she thinks about what he said earlier.

On their way home, Reika tells Kyouya that she wants to bring Erika to Kobe to introduce her to their mom since she has already taking a liking to her. The three of them travel to Kobe right away to meet her, and while waiting for her to arrive, Erika feels jittery. While Reika tries to comfort her, her mother finally arrives, and a short-haired, muscular woman appears in front of them, much to Erika’s surprise.

Huh? What kind? Just a normal middle-aged lady.
